WCL, which has been conferred ‘Mini-Ratna’ status, engages in the mining and production of coal and also operates coal washery. WCL’s major consumers are power and steel sectors and other sectors such as cement, fertilisers, brick kilns etc in Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Kerala. In FY18, the company’s coal production stood at 46.22 MT as compared with 45.63 MT in FY17.
