INDIA’S TOP 500 COMPANIES 2019 94 On the international front, the representation of companies of developed countries in the Fortune 500 Global Companies list is reducing, while countries like China are gaining a foothold. Between 2005-2017, China’s GDP reported a four-fold rise and consequently witnessed 95 of its companies finding a placed in the Fortune 500 Global Companies list. Over the same period, India’s GDP posted a two-fold rise and saw another two of its companies being added to the Fortune Global 500 list. If Top 500 corporates continue to grow at a rapid pace, India could emerge as a driving force for the world’s economy.
