Data taken from prowess for listed and unlisted companies 82 1994 65 2008 59 2018 53 firms stayed 46 firms stayed 29 firms slipped down 2 firms from the initial list returned CONTESTED LEADERSHIP It was observed that only 132 firms have consistently ranked in the Top 500 since 1994 even as many have slipped down from their initial rank Dun & Bradstreet Research has studied the churn rate of the companies which are part of Top 500 universe since the year 2000. This exercise revealed the number of firms that moved out of the Top 500 list and the number of new numbers that become part of the Top 500 firms. Data showed that Of the Top 500 firms in 2000, only 244 firms remained in the 2012 list Of the Top 500 firms in 2005, only 270 firms remained in the 2018 list Of the Top 500 firms in 2010, only 314 firms remained in the 2018 list The trend shows that at the current churn rate, nearly half of today’s Top 500 companies will get replaced by other companies in around 15 years.
