INDIA’S TOP 500 COMPANIES 2022 360 Advertorial About the Company Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) is a Schedule ‘A’, ‘Maharatna’ Public Sector Enterprise of Govt. of India, a listed entity operating under aegis of Ministry of Power incorporated in 1989 and is engaged in bulk transmission of Power through its EHV AC/ HVDC transmission network. POWERGRID is India’s largest Electric Power Transmission Utility and at present, the Inter-Regional power transfer capacity of the National Grid is about 112,250 MW of which about 97,290 MW capacity has been implemented by POWERGRID. POWERGRID has diversified into Telecom business by leveraging its transmission lines, through stringing of optical fibre cable (OPGW) on transmission lines crisscrossing the entire length and breadth of the country. The Company has been regularly undertaking assignments in the various emerging business areas with related adjacencies to power like distribution, railway electrification, and new areas like energy efficiency, smart city and smart grid, EV fast-charging infrastructure and has undertaken pilot projects in smart grid in distribution and grid scale battery storage.
