Kindly elaborate on your company’s innovation initiatives. What kind of outcomes have these initiatives helped the company derive? Our innovation initiatives revolve around “Unlocking the Nutritional Secrets of Spices”. Our last 12 years of published research in this area has Akay Natural Ingredients Private Limited created a new generation of unique spice ingredients, trade marked as Spiceuticals and patented, which are safe, efficient and cost-effective. These novel set of green spice extracts, standardized, characterized and formulated to have minimized aroma and pungency, but maximum water solubility and bioavailability, exhibiting a broad safety profile and health benefits as shown by in vitro/in vivo studies. These range of spiceuticals are designed to have concentrated quanta of bioavailable antioxidants capable of intervention in human physiological functions through mechanisms including induction of antioxidant defenses, longevity, cell maintenance, DNA repair etc. In this Nature to Nutraceuticals approach, we have developed a large number of Nutraceuticals and Dietary Supplement (NDS) products from spices and herbs, which is now 30% of our product folio, improving our profitability dramatically and increasing top-line growth. We are continuing our innovation initiatives with a large and dynamic R&D team, creating a range of new blue ocean products, with good science and clinical studies. With a strong focus on the globally fast- growing Nutraceuticals and dietary supplement area, we are confident Akay can continue its growth exponentially in the years to come. How has the COVID-19 pandemic impacted business? What are the strategies that the company has deployed to tide over this crisis? In all three of our product areas, Oleoresins & Natural Colours, Nutraceutical Ingredients and Spices & Seasonings we have good growth in this COVID 19 pandemic period. Turmeric and various products from it like curcumin, CurQfen, etc with its high immunity-boosting profile have helped us grow faster than previous years. Except for the first one week of national lockdown in March, we are able to run all our manufacturing plants with complete safety precautions for COVID 19 management. Our team has taken every step to follow strictly all government and WHO guidelines to keep our business moving forward. Our suppliers of spices and herbs continued with their full support in supplying the raw materials. This helped us so far to full fill the increased demand for our products.
