Blossom Industries Limited (BIL) started its brewing operations in 1994 under different leadership. It was taken-over by Khemani Group in 2000 and has been growing ever since. It is one of the leading Brewery in India producing world’s renowned Beers like Kingfisher, Taj Mahal, Fosters, etc. It not only brews, bottles/cans and distribute in local market but also exports it to more than 15 countries. The impeccable style of brewing with constant emphasis on quality has made it the first choice of partners for decades. We have recently launched our own brand – TAG. In a short span of 10 months, TAG is now available in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, UAE, Norway apart from the home market, and the journey has just begun. Its active presence on digital media is rapidly garnering fan following across these markets. Blossom Industries Limited Kindly take us through your journey and your motivation behind starting the company. In 1997, when the companywas under a different leadership, it had to stop production due to mismanagement and legal problems. We took over this company in 2000 and since then, there has been a complete reversal of fortunes. The Khemani’s by their sheer dint of hard work, management acumen and marketing prowess have ensured a decade of unparalleled growth in both top line and bottom line. The brewery at the time of takeover could make just around 50,000 Hectolitres (HL) per annum. It is the philosophy of the Khemani’s to produce the best quality products by incorporating the latest technology in all our undertakings. In line with this philosophy, all the available technological enhancements possible to the plant were incorporated and the quality of the production along with the quantity that could be produced saw a steady upsurge over the years. However, in the year 2008 the production hit a technological barrier as the new technologies were advantageously and optimally assimilated into the old plant. A decision was taken to completely replace the old plant with a new one that would produce world class beer. In the process the capacity also went up to 1 million HL per annum. The brew house was supplied by Praj and incorporated the technologically superior mash filter in place of the lauter tun. This has not only improved the yields but also the quality of the wort. Blossom was the first brewery in India to use the Mash filter. The working of the brew-house was completely automated and involved minimal human intervention. The utilities were made energy efficient thus, cutting costs and increasing its green footprint. The brewery was ISO 9001 certified in the year 2003 for qualitymanagement system. Further, the brewery was certified for ISO 14001 in the year 2008 for Environment management system. However, the quest for quality is never satiated and the work for ISO 22000 in the year 2014 for Food Safety management system and BRC in the year 2018 for British retail consortium was achieved. The passion of the Khemani’s for cleanliness and hygiene has ensured that Blossom has become the envy of other breweries and a benchmark for them to emulate.
