9 Experts' View Leading Mid-Corporates of India 2022 How would you describe the journey of your company since its inception? What are some of the key milestones of the company in recent years? I entered the agrochemical business in 1997 in the UK as a trading entity. The scalability of a pure trading organization was limited so, I aspired to build a manufacturing unit in India. In 2006, we incorporated Cropnosys India and bought the factory land in 2009. Vapi being the chemical capital of India, we set up our manufacturing facility there. The challenges were unlimited and to commercialize the first product we had towait for 5 years! We realized that the key to success in this post patent agro chemical space lies in getting registrations in the right markets. With registrations coming in since 2017, the company has grown leaps and bounds in these last 5 years. From being a single product Cropnosys (India) Private Limited Gurvinder Singh Founder & Managing Director company, today we manufacture 10 AI’s and several intermediaries. All products have equivalences in EU/USA/Australia & LATAM. Our inhouse R&D has ensured that most products are backwardly integrated. It also has achieved B2C success through its associate company in the UK, Cropthetics Ltd. The combined revenue of the group will reach over $200 mn in the financial year 2022-23 & plans are to grow at 30% year on year. What are some of the key products / services offered by the company? Our key products come from the demand of active ingredients in export markets, which is our B2B segment. These include our first active ingredient, Fluazinam, a fungicide, and have since developed more newer generation, post- patent fungicides such as Dithianon and Cyazofamid. We have further diversified our portfolio by offering herbicides including Dicamba and Flufenacet; and even developed a safer systemic insecticide, Flonicamid. All of these are produced to the highest purity so that the end- user gets a pesticide formulation which has zero-residue. Apart from this, we have launched a home gardening segment called Pot&Bloom to cater to the urban markets. Pot&Bloom offers Urban consumers the “Joy of Growing “ . It’s a complete all-in-one garden kit with Pot, Pot Mix, Seeds, Nutrition and Protection liquids which will enable the Urban consumer to grow flowers and vegetables in their balconies. Pot&Bloom is thus our urban venture where we leverage our expertise in Plant Nutrition and Protection. This is also in a small way part of our ESG initiative to have a greener and healthier tomorrow. What are some of the key factors that differentiates your company from its peers? / What are the factors that give you an edge over your peers? OurUSPhasbeenourR&Dcapabilities aligned with our registrations in potential markets. We have built a unique 10 step process to carefully choose the molecules that we have to invest in and then ensure that the R&D team aligns to our aspirations. At any point in time our R&D team will be working on 5+ new molecules that forecasts our stability and growth potential for the future.
