18 Experts' View Leading Mid-Corporates of India 2022 How would you describe the journey of your company since its inception? What are some of the key milestones of the company in recent years? Auto Ignition Limited (Brand Auto- lek) was established 50 years ago by visionary entrepreneur Mr. R.K. Sarine with a clear goal of developing indigenous technologies to cater for the upcoming auto industry at times when the multi-nationals were virtually controlling the know-how. Since then Auto-lek has never looked back in bringing products and technologies from time to time. The major milestones were entering into overseas market in early nineties and acquiring market leadership in off highway business in the last decade can be considered as epoch making events. While customer satisfaction is its core focus area, company philosophy has been the “total inclusiveness” of its stake- holders i.e. employees, suppliers and society. It firmly believes the long- term sustenance is possible only through such an approach. Needless to say, company’s continuous focus on eliminating waste has paid substantial dividends over the years. What are some of the innovative initiatives taken by your company in recent years? How have those initiatives helped your organization? The company has managed through the toughest of the competitions from global players who existed here for decades. Thanks to its innovative methods in almost every area of business excellence. A recent innovative program “Sankalp” to take our supplier partners to the next level is one such initiative. Another initiative of employee engagement in bringing out their creativity through innovative reward and recognition process has realized into huge improvements internally and dozens of accolades and recognitions from the all-over including customers. What is your outlook on the Auto sector? What is your company’s growth strategy for next 3-5 years? We firmly believe, Mobility Industry is the back-bone of global economy. While the industry is facing challenges of rising material cost and uncertainties such as geo-political unrest, the industry is bound to grow. Auto-lek with its strong foundation has a multi-fold strategy to grow ahead of market. This includes its recent entry into rapidly growing e-Mobility segment as complete solution provider with motor, control unit and e-axle. Its strategic technology alliance with the best global technology partner from Germany harnessed by maximum localization and its 500 dealer network is likely be the biggest differentiator in transforming the e-Mobility in the years to come. Further, its robust plans to accelerate the global sales by acquiring new businesses in starter motor/ alternators will bring in non-linear growth. The company has also made in-roads into niche rotating electricals for passenger vehicles that will open an avenue of new product line. With all these initiatives of organic and in-organic growth in different geographies, the company is poised to triple its sales and double its exports in next 3-4 years’ time. Dun & Bradstreet
