Besides, the key change in the definition is the exclusion of export income while arriving at the limits of turnover for any category of MSME units. MSMEs: The growth engines of the Indian economy MSMEs contribute a great deal to the Indian Economy monetarily as well as in terms of innovation. As per the data available with Central Statistics Office (CSO), Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation, the share of MSME Gross Value Added (GVA) in All India Gross Domestic Product at current prices (2011-12) for the year 2018-19 and 2019-20 were 30.5% and 30.0% respectively.
