UEPL History UEPL started as a new R&D laboratory within United Phosphorus Limited (now UPL Ltd., a $6 billion agrochemical and seeds conglomerate), with a couple of employees, in the year 1993 with a well-drawn out plan to initially develop phosphine detection devices and extend the technology to other gases. Encouraged by the initial success with its phosphine detection devices, the Laboratory was shifted to the present premises in the year 1996 with a new name - Chemo Electronic Laboratory (CEL). CEL made rapid progress and developed instruments and detector tubes for a large number of gases and started producing and selling its products by the year 1997. By 2010, CEL became a self-supporting unit with more than 100 employees and CEL was renamed Uniphos Envirotronic Pvt. Ltd. (UEPL) and became a private limited company. Dun & Bradstreet
