Dun & Bradstreet India hosted Infra Awards 2017 in association with Everest Industries Limited
Mumbai, November 2, 2017: Dun & Bradstreet, the world’s leading provider of global business information, knowledge and insights hosted ‘Infra Awards 2017’ today in the presence of Shri Nitin Gadkari, Honourable Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways; Shipping and Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Government of India and many other industry leaders.
Dun & Bradstreet Infra Awards in its 7th edition, is the most sought-after award in the infrastructure industry, where India's leading infrastructure companies as well as leading infrastructure projects across various categories are recognized for their contribution as a critical driver of the Indian economy.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Manish Sinha, Managing Director – India, Dun & Bradstreet said, “Infrastructure investment is characterised by two qualities: high levels of spend, and long gestation periods. In other words, spend big, but be patient! In the last 1-2 years, India has progressed in various country rankings: Ease of Doing Business #130 to 100. Logistics Performance #54 to 35. Global Competitiveness #55 to 40. But there’s a long way to go. Compared with a pool of countries who invest around $1,200 per capita on infrastructure, India spends around $120. As a citizen you can feel this difference in multiple areas: power, roads, telecoms, sanitation, water, railway, you name it. Every one of these areas of infrastructure investment gives returns that are multiple times the spend. For example, on water and sanitation: various WHO and UN studies suggest that $1 invested gives return of $4-9 through health costs saved, deaths avoided, productivity enhanced, water supply protected, and other wider benefits like more productive education investments. Similar benefits accrue in other parts of infrastructure investment. We’re on the right path, but the road ahead is long”.
The event highlighted the importance of gen-next Infra by building it faster, greener, smarter in a panel discussion attended by dignitaries’ representing from renewable energy sector industry.
The discussion centred around on how with the help of advanced technologies and new techniques, renewable sources of energy can be utilised more efficiently to support building infrastructure development to a next level. The discussion also deliberated upon how enhancing the quality and performance of urban services and engaging citizen actively with urban service providers will make them more environmental friendly and self-sufficient when it comes to energy requirements.
