The creation of knowledge supports Dun & Bradstreet’s core purpose
The event witnessed the unveiling of the 11th edition of the publication, "India’s Leading Infrastructure Companies" and saw thought leaders from the infrastructure sector come together to speak on “NextGen Infra: building India of Tomorrow”.
Mumbai, 31st October, 2018: Dun & Bradstreet (D&B), the world’s leading provider of global business information, today hosted ‘Infra Awards 2018’ in presence of Shri Amitabh Kant, Chief Executive Officer, NITI Ayog, Government of India
This year, Larsen & Toubro Limited won in the category of Construction & Infrastructure Development (Overall), NTPC Limited in Power Generation, Bharti Airtel in Telecom Services, Adani Ports in Ports, and GAIL (India) Limited in Infrastructure Finance Company among others.
Dun & Bradstreet Infra Awards, currently in its 8th edition, serves as a renowned platform to recognize India’s leading infrastructure companies and prominent projects across various categories, for their achievements on the operational and financial performance front.
As part of their endeavor to bring the focus on India’s infrastructure development, Dun & Bradstreet also released the 11th edition of its publication ‘India’s Leading Infrastructure Companies’. The publication features notable companies in the infrastructure sector such as construction, logistics, oil & gas, ports, power and telecom. The publication also highlights key trends in the sector along with industry veterans’ interviews.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Manish Sinha, Managing Director – India, Dun & Bradstreet said “India has emerged as one of the fastest growing large economies in the world. One of the major pillars on which any economy stands is quality infrastructure. The country has made considerable progress, where infrastructure investment as a percentage to GDP stands well, when compared to other economies whose infrastructure has evolved over a period of time. However, in terms of availability and quality of infrastructure, India stands far behind. In other words, we are spending the ‘right amount’ on infrastructure, but we are not getting an ‘adequate output’. This is the result of many factors, but two specific ones dominate, i.e. high ‘agency’ cost and high corrective maintenance cost of infrastructure.
He further said, “As we look to improving infrastructure in India, we would start with investment efficiency into infrastructure; specifically, to reduce agency costs and to ensure that the more efficient preventative maintenance replaces corrective maintenance.”
